Bacardi Rum; it is the resourceful rum that has engaged a cocktail reformation.  Bacardi history spans one-hundred and fifty years, with a vision from the original founder, Don Facundo Bacardo Masso.  The company is superior in its rums, such as the original Bacardi and he intense Bacardi 151.

What makes Bacardi unique and exceptional?  Besides its tasteful spirits; the company is still family-owned and operated.   With the headquarters presently in Hamilton Bermuda, and the United States headquarters in Coral Gables, Florida, the company can collaborate most effectively to ensure proper branding.   Like many other liquor companies, Bacardi had turbulent times during prohibition.  Its founder immigrated to Cuba in 1830 to refine his rum craft and to gain materials more reasonably.  Most of Bacardi’s difficulties occurred Fidel Castro’s resistance in the 1960s; the company lasted through the third-generation in Cuba, and had already established themselves as an international brand.  However, where production was to continue was unclear after Castro initiated Communism that eventually halted funds and private property accumulation.  Bacardi gradually moved its production to Puerto Rico and remained close to United States Political Elite to ignite the message how they were victimized by Castro’s ill-fated ideals.  Today, Bacardi has no ties to Cuba in its name or production.

The family has intensified its family of brands; including acquiring Martini & Rossi in 1992-the Italian producer of vermouth and sparkling wines.  Later in 1998, the company acquired Dewar’s Scotch and Bombay Sapphire; then in 2004 Bacardi purchased France’s Grey Goose.  Other associated brands include; Drambuie, Disaronno, and B&B to name a few.   Bacardi has established them as a respected brand by engaging in the low to middle price points because it allows enjoyment to succeed by almost everyone.

Bacardi rums are world-class and among the best-selling.   Besides the flavor, the clear color gives Barcardi its distinctiveness.   However, the clear spectacular has evolved into other notable flavors such as Bacardi Limon, Big Apple, Grand Coco, Razz (raspberry), and even Vanilla to help enhance any cocktail and to entice particular palettes.  The popular cocktail to note is the Bacardi Mojito.  The color blended with pure cane sugar and fresh mint is a legacy to Bacardi’s originality.

Bacardi prefers to distillate to keep the clear liquid color that occurs from fermentation of sugarcane and molasses.  It is graded as “light rum,” or commonly referred to as silver or white.  Bacardi does have a Silver in its brand category.  Generally a light rum has very little flavor with a slight sweetness and serves as a base for cocktails.  Although, it can be enjoyed just as well when served over ice.  The majority of light rums come from Puerto Rico, which is exactly where Bacardi started its expansion after defining the process in Cuba.
